digiKam is my favorite software because it lets you edit images and image information (metadata) before RAW to JPEG conversion. Plus, I also like its ability to support a large number of RAW and standard image formats.
digiKam
digiKam is a free batch RAW to JPEG converter software for Windows. The primary purpose of this software is to view and edit images. Hence, you can make various changes on parameters of RAW images before converting them to JPEG. It provides various dedicated tool sections to change image parameters such as Metadata (to edit image metadata), Colors (to modify image color profile), Filters (to add color filters), Captions, Tags, and more. After making all essential changes, you can start the batch raw to JPEG conversion process.
How to batch convert raw images to JPEG using this software:
- First, load all RAW images of same or different RAW image formats using its Browse option.
- All loaded images will appear on its interface from where you need to select those images which you want to convert.
- After that, go to its Tools menu and select Batch Queue Manager.
- From here, first, select Base tools and go to Convert Images to JPEG section and press the Convert to JPEG option to start the conversion.
Apart from JPEG, you can also use its convert raw images to other JPEG based formats like JP2, J2K, and JPX as well as PNG, TIFF, JP2, PGF, etc. formats.
Picasa
Picasa is a completely free and popular image viewing and processing software for Windows. You can also use this software to batch convert raw to JPEG. Using it, you can convert various types of RAW image formats such NEF, RAW, ARI, CRW, KDC, etc. However, before the conversion, you can make various changes to input RAW images like adding filters, fixing highlights, colors, brightness, crop image, rotate image, etc. After making necessary changes, just select raw images from its image explorer, then go to File Menu > Export Picture to menu. This menu provides options to select the output folder, resize images, change image quality, and add watermark. After setting up all the configurations, press the Export button to start the conversion.
